Is ArchFic free? Does it have ads?
Yes — ArchFic is fully free with no ads, subscriptions, in-app purchases, or premium tiers. Every feature, present and future, is available to all users at no cost. Our mission is to deliver the best possible mobile reading experience for fanfiction readers.
Is ArchFic affiliated with Archive of Our Own?
No. ArchFic is an independent third-party reader application. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by Archive of Our Own or the Organization for Transformative Works (OTW). All fanfiction content displayed in the app remains the property of their respective authors and is served directly from AO3's public website. ArchFic operates within AO3's terms of service.
Can I read offline?
Absolutely. Any work can be downloaded for offline reading, with the full chapter content stored securely on your device. Translation models also work offline once the corresponding language pack is downloaded — ideal for flights, commutes, or low-connectivity environments.
Why do I sometimes see a Cloudflare check?
AO3 secures its infrastructure with Cloudflare protection. ArchFic integrates this verification step transparently inside the app, so when AO3 requires a new session, you simply complete the check once and continue reading uninterrupted. Sessions remain valid for hours of normal usage.
Do I need an AO3 account?
No account is required. ArchFic provides full anonymous access to browse, read, build a personal library, and use TTS and translation features. Sign-in is entirely optional — provided only for users who wish to sync their AO3 bookmarks, history, and marked-for-later lists into the app.
How does Text-to-Speech work?
Our Text-to-Speech engine leverages your device's native voice library (100+ voices on most modern devices). Users can select any voice, fine-tune speed and pitch, and the reader auto-scrolls in perfect sync with narration — designed for hands-free reading during commutes, workouts, or extended sessions.
Which languages can I translate to?
ArchFic supports 50+ languages through Google ML Kit's on-device translation engine. All translation is processed locally on your device — no chapter content is ever transmitted to external servers, ensuring complete privacy.
Where can I report bugs or request features?
Open the app and navigate to Settings → Feedback to submit a bug report or feature request directly to our team. Every submission is reviewed, triaged, and considered for inclusion in upcoming releases.
